This game was widely anticipated, and very well recieved, though arguably not as well as its predecessor Ocarina of Time. The game introduced Link to the strange, dark world of Termina. A Skull Kid who is possessed by the evil mask he wears wreaks havoc in this world, and uses his dark powers to pull a demonic moon ever closer to the planet.
His battles through time against the Evil King Ganon complete, Link returned to his childhood and began a journey to search for his dear friend Navi. One day while riding through The Lost Woods, his horse Epona was startled by faries and Link was thrown to the ground. When he regained consciousness, a Skull Kid wearing a strange mask was standing over him, Link’s Ocarina of Time in his hand. Without saying a word, the Skull Kid jumped on Epona and rode off into the forest, Link trailing right behind. As Link chases the Skull Kid further and further into the forest, the land of Hyrule vanishes around Link, replaced by an increasingly strange, yet somehow eerily familiar new world. What is this dark power the masked Skull Kid has? What is he planning? And what is this strange new place? The fifth game in the Zelda series, Ocarina of Time marked Zelda’s triumphant leap to 3D. Ocarina of Time was a massive success, having sold millions of copies and become known to many as the best game of all time. Ocarina of Time was a huge inspiration to so many of the gamers who played it, and it played a large roll in the creation of the online Zelda community and its associated fan sites.
Once again you take on the role of Link in the fair land of Hyrule. What starts as an innocent adventure to protect the Triforce quickly escalates into an epic quest through time with the fate of a world in your hands

How to Catch the Hylian Loach
Taken from Translated Interview
When you enter the fishing pond, there is a 1 in 4 chance that the Hylian Loach (which measures from 60-99cm) will appear in the pond.
The Hylian Loach swims in the deepest part of the water, so it is very difficult to catch if you don’t have the sinking lure (see the above tip on how to get it).

Turn Any Item Into a Bottle
Go somewhere in the game where you can catch an item in a bottle (i.e. bugs, poes, etc). Equip the bottle and use it. In the middle of the animation of Link swinging the bottle, pause the game, equip another item over the bottle, and unpause. When the animation finishes and Link catched the item in the bottle, it will turn the item you just equipped into a bottle!
Tips on Collecting Skulltulas
By Linko_16
Remembering where you left a Gold Skulltula behind because you couldn’t procure the token at the time isn’t always easy, but remember that when you look on the world map in the start menu and move the cursor from town to town, areas where you have collected all the Gold Skulltula tokens will have an icon of a Gold Skulltula next to it. That way you can easily tell where you must return to find the remaining tokens. In the case of dungeons, if I remember correctly the Skulltula icon also appears on the map if you’ve found all the Skulltulas, so you can just pop in real quick and check for the icon to know for sure.
A few other tips for beginners:
If you didn’t already know, Gold Skulltulas in outdoor locations (not dungeons or holes in the ground) only appear at night.
Usually the way to look for a Skulltula you’re missing is by going to unfinished areas and listening closely for the sound of them scratching around, but there are many instances where you can’t rely on your ears. Sometimes Skulltulas hide in unobvious places, such as trees, so if you’re stuck, try shaking trees with your roll attack during the night.
Another time when Skulltulas may evade your attention are when they are hiding in those grottos that only appear when bombed or when you play the correct Ocarina tune. It may seem like you’d never know where these secret holes in the ground may be, but make sure you have your Stone of Agony equipped, a prize that the Skulltula family in Kakoriko gives you for collecting so many tokens. It will cause the controller to vibrate when you’re above such a hole, so if you feel it go off, investigate. If you’re on the N64 and don’t have a rumble pack, well, your only alternative in such a case would be to perhaps resort to an FAQ, a habit I would normally scorn, but I understand that sometimes you have no choice.
You can also collect a secret Gold Skulltula from each patch of soft soil in the game. By catching bugs in jars and releasing them next to soft soil, they will enter it, “breed,” and produce a complimentary Gold Skulltula for you. Easily one of the most anticipated games of all time, Twilight Princess was released in fall of 2006 on both the GCN and Wii consoles. Twilight Princess was a return to the fair land of Hyrule and an adventure more epic and beautiful than any that came before it.
When the first trailer of the game was shown to an unsuspecting audience at 2004’s E3 event, gamers wept tears of joy. Now we are all be able to enjoy this anticipated title on GCN as well as Wii with special motion control capabilities!
When an evil shadow stretches from the heart of Hyrule to its peaceful borderlands, a young farm boy named Link must awaken the hero within and stand tall in defense of his village. Lead Link and his beloved steed into battle against hordes of foul creatures with an incredible horseback combat system, then take on massive bosses that have to be seen to be believed. The last ray of hope for a dying realm, Link finds himself on an epic journey that will challenge him endlessly and transform him in ways unimaginable.
As darkness falls, a hero will rise… will it be you?

A required mask. | | | | | Great Fairy Mask | The Great Fairy Mask, when worn, attracts all | | | kinds of Stray Fairies in all 4 Temples, and is | | | required if you want to collect all 15 Stray | | | Fairies in each temple in the game. | | | | | Blast Mask | This mask, when worn, allows Link to blow | | | things up without using bombs. You can blow up | | | anything that a regular bomb can, but Link will | | | take damage from the explosion. | | | | | Bremen Mask | This mask looks remarkably like a chicken, and | | | is used to attrack small chicks in the back of | | | the Romani Ranch, and to earn a Heart Piece. | | | | | Kafei's Mask | Kafei's Mask looks a lot like Kafei himself, | | | and is used to talk to townspeople to find out | | | about Kafei's wearabouts, and to complete the | | | long trading sequence involving Kafei and Anju. | | | | | Bunny Hood | The Bunny Hood has no real use in the game, and | | | is not really required, but you will need it to | | | make really long jumps, and to dodge enemy's | | | attacks. It makes Link run and jump further than| | | normal. Reccommended. | | | | | Odolwa's Remains | This mask has no use until the end of the game, | | | when you go to the Moon. | | | | | Mask of Scents | No real use, except to smell things very well. | | | It's used to find the stinky fungus in Clock | | | Town. | | | | | Kamaro Mask | The Kamaro's Mask lets Link dance very well, and| | | is used to teach others how to dance, and to | | | spread the "special" dance of the Kamaro. | | | | | Goron Mask | This is a required transformation mask, and is | | | used for many Goron-only areas. | | | | | Goht's Remains | This mask has no use until the end of the game, | | | when you go to the Moon. | | | | | Don Gero Mask | Don Gero's Mask is a mask of the great frog | | | conductor, Don Gero. This mask's use is to | | | attract fellow frogs, and to create the ultimate| | | frog choir. Do this to get a Heart Piece. | | | | | Stone Mask | The Stone Mask is used to avoid many enemies in | | | the game. Since it is made out of stone, you | | | can go by most enemies in the game un-noticed | | | while wearing this cool mask. Reccommended. | | | | | Zora Mask | Another transformation mask, the Zora Mask | | | transforms Link into a Zora, and allows Link to | | | enter Zora-only areas, swim underwater without | | | air, and walk along the ocean floor. | | | | | Gyorg's Remains | This mask has no use until the end of the game, | | | when you go to the Moon. | | | | | All-Night Mask | This special Mask is very cool, in that it | | | allows Link to stay awake all night, and it is | | | used to collect at least 2 Heart Pieces. | | | | | Keaton Mask | The Keaton Mask is used to summon the great | | | Keaton near the "alive" bushes, and to play his | | | game of Quiz questions to win Rupees and a Heart| | | Pieces. | | | | | Postman's Hat | The Postman's Hat is cool, in that it allows | | | Link to go through the Mailboxes, and take | | | special stuff like Rupees. | | | | | Garo's Mask | The Garo's Mask is the mask of the ancient | | | ninjas, and it allows you to enter Ikana Canyon.| | | It also allows you to fight Garos, as well as | | | pass by ReDead enemies without them seeing you. | | | | | Romani Mask | The Romani Mask is a special Mask that allows | | | Link to enter the Milk Bar in East Clock Town | | | after 10PM, and buy the special Chateau Romani | | | Milk. | | | | | Mask of Truth | This mask lets Link peek into certain people's | | | thoughts, as well as animals, and even into | | | Gossip Stones to learn valuable advice. | | | | | Captain's Hat | The Captain's Hat lets Link talk to the Stal- | | | Children, and even give them orders. It also | | | lets Link avoid combat with the Stalchildren. | | | | | Gibdo Mask | The Gibdo Mask is a mask that, when worn, allows| | | Link to pass by ReDeads and other dead enemies | | | without them attacking you. | | | | | Circus Leader's Mask | This mask has a small, but useful use in the | | | game. When worn while riding with Cremia to | | | deliver the Milk to Clock Town, the thieves | | | following the cart will only follow you, and | | | not attack the cart and try to steal the milk. | | | | | Couple's Mask | This mask is almost useless, but it's one good | | | use is that it allows you to get a Heart Piece | | | from the Mayor of Clock Town when worn. | | | | | Giant's Mask | The only use for this mask is to make Link very | | | large during the boss fight in Stone Tower | | | Temple, and that's it. It is almost required to | | | beat the temple's boss. | | | | | Twinmold's Remains | This mask has no use until the end of the game, | | | when you go to the Moon. | | | | | Fierce Deity Mask | This special mask can be gotten after getting | | | all 20 normal Masks, and lets Link take on the | | | role of a mighty warrior, but can only be used | | | during Boss battles. It's a very mighty mask | | | indeed. | | | | |__________________________|_________________________________________________|
There are 5 heart pieces that can be gotten as an adult by planting magic beans as a kid. Here are the bean patch locations:
- In Front of Dodongo’s Cavern
- In Kakariko Graveyard — to the upper left hand side of the entrance.
- In Death Mountain Crater — right near the teleportation pad.
- By Lake Hylia — Right next to the lab.
- Outside the Spirit Temple — To the left side.
Note: There are other places to plant magic beans, but they don’t lead to heart pieces. The rest of the heart pieces are gained other ways.
- Lon Lon Ranch – There is a shed on the far side of the ranch from the entrance. Inside, move the crates away from the back wall to reveal a back crawl area where the heart piece is. This can only be done as a kid.
- Hyrule Field – On the North side of the outside of Lon Lon Ranch, there is a group of trees that goes all the way back to the mote after it has gone past the castle. The first of these trees can be bombed and a hole appears. Inside the hole you can dive to get the heart piece. You need the Golden scale or Iron boots to get it.
- Hyrule Field – In the little fenced off area in front of the entrace to Lake Hylia, you can bomb that area to reveal another hole.
- Kakariko Village – There are three ways to get this piece:
- Have the owl Bring you down off of the top of Death mountain and jump off the roof onto the little overhang above the chicken pen and walk inside.
- Take a chicken up to the building being constructed in the middle of the Village. Toss it up the blocks in the middle, then pick it up again and fly over onto the beams. From there, run over towards the wooden overhang and glide towards it and go inside.
- As an adult, use the longshot to get from roof to roof and get onto that building, then jump down and go inside.
- Kakariko Village – Use your longshot to get onto the purple roof and talk to the guy up there. He will give you the heart piece. If you only have the hookshot, stand on top of the fence in front of the windmill and you can hook onto the closest part of the roof. This can obviously only be done as an adult, although some say there is a glitched out way to get up there.
- Kakariko Graveyard – As a kid, play Dampe’s Greave-digging game until he digs out the heart piece at night. Hint – Dig in the patches between the path.
- Kakariko Graveyard – Beat Dampe in a race again after you get the hookshot from him as an adult. He is in the grave with the flowers in front of it that appears up to the left of the graveyard that appears as an adult. Hint – By playing a warp song then saying no when it asks you if you want to warp, it stalls the timer a little and allows you to keep your time down low enough.
- Kakariko Graveyard – If you pull back one of the graves and go inside, there will be a zombie in it. Play the suns song to freeze him and reveal a chest with a heart piece in it.
- Kakariko Graveyard or the Windmill – After racing Dampe, there is an area with blocks with the temple of time symbol on them. Play the song of time and they will disapear. Then go up the stairs into the Windmill, and leap onto the turning platform, and then onto the other rock platform with the heartpiece on it. Note – You can also climb up onto the rock outcroppings around the windmill to get up to the turning platform. These can only be done as an adult.
- The house of skulltula in Kakariko Village – After destroying 50 gold skulltulas and collecting the coins, go to the house of skulltula and talk to the uncursed people there. The newest one will give you a heart piece.
- Zora’s River – Play the Song of Storms for the frogs as a kid. They are hiding under the logs.
- Zora’s River – Continue playing songs with the Frogs. Each Frog is assigned an ocarina tone, and if you successfully pass the game, they will give you a heartpiece. I will have the order up soon.
- Zora’s River – Take the chicken at the entrance of the river and climb up the hill further upstream. Leap over to the platform with the plant on it and glide, throwing the chicken in mid air so you can grab on. Then hop on to the other platform with the heart piece in it.
- Zora’s River – Take the chicken all the way to the entrance of Zora’s Domain and glide from theere to the platform in the corner to get the Heart Piece.
- Zora’s Domain – Light all of the torches in the domain, even the two behind the waterfall by taking a Deku stick and lighting it in King Zora’s Chamber, then taking it down the stairs to light the one there, then using that flame to light the others downstairs. If you are having trouble, a good trick is to use Din’s Fire to light the two behind the waterfall then take a light Deku stick from there to light the other two. A chest will pop up behind the waterfall with the heart piece in it.
- Zora’s Fountain – Use the Iron Boots and Zora tunic to sink to the bottom of the fountain and get the heart piece as an adult.
- Zora’s Fountain – There is an ice block in the fountain. Get to it by hopping from platform to platform. Pick up the Heart piece, it is that simple.
- Ice Cavern – Use a blue flame in a bottle to melt away the red block with the heart piece in it.
- Market – As a kid, win the treasure chest game to get a heart piece. Note – You can see inside the chests with the Lens of Truth once you get it.
- Market – Keep winning the Bombchu game as a kid. Eventually the prize will be a piece of a heart.
- Market – At night, get the little white dog in the corner of the market by the guy looking out his window. Bump into it until it follows you and take it back down the side alley to the room with the big lady in it. Talk to her, and if it is the right dog, she will give you a heart piece.
- Death Mountain Crater – Explore around the walls as an adult while wearing the Goron tunic to find the area with the heart piece.
- Fishing Pond in Lake Hylia – Catch the biggest fish as a child to get a heart piece from the pond owner after weighing it.
- Lake Hylia – Go to the lab once you have the golden scale and dive down to the bottom of the the water in there. Talk to the crazy potion person.
- Goron City – As a kid, get the giant urn to start spinning by lighting the torches around with a Deku stick light in Darunia’s chamber. Then throw a bomb or a bomb plant into it until it spits out a heart piece.
- Gerudo Valley – Climb up the ladder back behind the waterfall to get the heart piece.
- Gerudo Valley – As a kid, fly over to the ledge with a crate on it using a chicken to reach it. Break the crate and get the heart piece. As an adult, just drop down to the ledge with the boulder on it and long shot accross to the crate a bust it.
- Gerudo Fortress – As an Adult you can use your longshot to shoot onto the roof with the chest on it. Open the chest to get the heart piece. If you only have the hookshut but you have the scarecrow song, get up onto the roof accross from there and play the scarecrow song. One the scarecrow pops up, hook onto him.
- Gerudo Fortress – Play the Target shooting game on Epona and get 1000 points to get a heart piece.
- Lost Woods – Play Saria’s song to the lone skull kid and he will give you a heart piece.
- Lost Woods – Follow along on your Ocarina with the two skull kids. Pull it out and they will ask you to. Keep playing until they give you a Piece of a heart.Armos are stone statues that do absolutely nothing unless you touch them or attack them. They will spin towards you and eventually return to their original position. As an adult, your sword or the megaton hammer will penetrate its defenses, but the little Kokiri sword you use as a kid just isn’t cut out for the job. In that case, use bombs or bombflowers to take it out. Once you have killed it, the thing will actually go on a mad spinning fit while turning red then explode in a last ditch effort to kill you, so be weary.
B
Baby Dodongo
A Baby Dodongo is a small crawling lizard found in Dodong’s Cavern that will leap at you. If you defeat it, then it will explode. They are incredibly easy to beat, as even a boomerang hit will kill it.
Beamos
Beamos are enemies that just sit in one area and look around. If you get close, it will shoot a laser beam at you. To stun it, use Din’s Fire or Z-Target it and shoot it with your hookshot/Longshot. To Destroy it, just drop a bomb nearby and let it explode. It does not have to be stunned for you to drop a bomb and destroy it.
Big Deku Baba
A Big Deku Baba is just that, a bigger version of the regular Deku Baba. Hack, slash, or shoot it of you want. Depending on how you defeat it, you will either get a Deku Stick or Deku Nuts.
Big Skulltula
A Big skulltula hangs from the ceiling and normally is just there to get in your way. It will spin around after a short period of time and expose its belly. Attack then with your sword or any other weapon to kill it.
Blue Bubble
Blue bubbles are little flying skulls that have wings and a blue flame around them. To kill it, the flame must be down, so allow it to bump into your raised shield. It will start bouncing around and you can hack, slash, shoot, or otherwise blow it away until it dies.
Blue Tektite
Blue Tektites are usually found in Lake Hylia as a kid or adult, the Water Temple, or in Zora’s River as an adult. They leap around on the water, and are usually quite hard to kill while you are both in the water. Luring it onto land and then attacking it with your sword or shooting it with your Bow or slingshot from land is how you take care of these enemies.
Business Scrub
This variation of the Deku Scrub is named what it is because it will normally offer to sell you something after you beat it up. They hide in little plants, pop up, and spit Deku Nuts at you. You can deflect the flying Nut Back at it with your shield to hit it. Sometimes this will cause it to surrender or get up and run around. Normally Business scrubs surrender after only one hit. You can also flush them out by slamming the magaton hammer into the ground nearby, even if they are underground.
C
D
Deku Baba
Deku Babas, otherwise known as Deku Flowers, are plants that spring up out of the ground and attempt to attack you. Some will just spin around, while others will lunge at you. You Sword is more than adequete to handle these early baddies. Just about any other weapon is effective on them as well.
Deku Scrub
Deku Scrubs are usually found in the Great Deku Tree. They pop out of grass and spit Deku Nuts at you. Bounce the nuts back at it and it will either get up and run around, where you can hit it again, or it will immediately surrender. Either way, it will just speak to you an tell you something “useful.”
Dodongo
Dodongos are found in Dodngo’s Cavern.. duh. They are large fat lizards that crawl along and spit fire at you. Attack its back with any weapon you wish to kill it. One you defeat it, it will explode.
E
F
Fire Keese
A Fire Keese is one of those flaming bats that will dive bomb at you. If it hits, you will catch on fire and if your Deku shield is equipped, it will burn up. The Fire Keese will return to being a regular keese until it comes in contact with flames again. Thus, flame attacks are pretty useless. Defend yourself with any shield except the Deku Shield when it dives at you, then you can swat it out of the air or shoot it. Either way, locking on with Z-Targeting is useful. Fire Keeses are vulnerable to Ice attacks while on fire, however.
Flare Dancer
A Flare Dancer is made almost completely out of fire. It dances around a little then charges in circles. You can extinguish its fire by hitting the center with your hookshot while it is dancing. If you miss that opportunity, drop a bomb while it is floating around in circles to extinguish the flame. Then hit the remaining part with your sword. It will start running around before leaping back into the flame. You have to hurt it one more time by powering up your sword while the little black part is running away from you after you have hit it the first time, then release the energy to hit it again. It will leap back into the flames, but when it comes back out, the flames will be a different color. Repeat the process until it is destroyed. The colors go flaming red, blue, and finally green.
G
Gohma Larva
A Gohma Larva hatches out of a little egg and are found exclusively in the Deku Tree. These minature versions of that level’s boss leap towards you to cause damage. Just hacking at it with your sword when it comes towards you a couple times is all you need to defeat it. But it is easier to save yourself the trouble and kill it while it is still in its egg form.
Gold Skulltula
A Gold skulltula really has no purpose in the game except to die. They never move from their positions, and just sit there on the wall or on the ground rotating in circles while making a very distinct noise. There are exactly 100 different Gold Skulltulas in the game. If you kill them and collect the little token that pops out, either by walking up to it or bringing it to you with your hookshot or boomerang, you will weaken the spider’s curse on the family in the house of Skulltula at Kakariko Village. Here are the prizes you obtain for talking to the people as they become uncursed and the amount of tokens required to heal them.
- 10 Gold Skulltula Tokens – Adult Wallet that carries 200 Rupees.
- 20 Gold Skulltula Tokens – Stone Of Agony (Use of Rumble Pack for finding hints.)
- 30 Gold Skulltula Tokens – Giant’s Wallet that carries 500 Rupees.
- 40 Gold Skulltula Tokens – 10 Bombchus.
- 50 Gold Skulltula Tokens – A Piece of a Heart.
- 100 Gold Skulltula Tokens – 200 Rupees every tiem you talk to the head of the family.
Green Bubble
Green Bubbles are just like Blue Bubbles. They are little flying skulls with a flame around them, except this time it is a neon green color. Allow it to bounce off your shield to put the flame out, then hack or shoot it to pieces. I believe the only difference is that Green bubbles will continue to float around without their flames while blue bubbles will start bouncing on the ground.
Guay
Guays look just like crows, and dive bomb at you. You can swat at them with your sword or shoot them with your slingshot or bow at a greater distance. Either way, Z-Targeting is really helpful against these types of foes.
H
I
J
K
Keese
A Keese is one of those annoying bats that dive bomb towards you. You can try and swat at it with your sword while it’s near, or you can shoot it long range with arrows or a slingshot. Either way, it is good advice to lock on to it with Z-Targeting. Just don’t use any fire or ice attacks on it, because it will just make it covered in ice or fire, adding to your problems.
L
Leever
Leevers are those annoying green spinning things in the haunted wasteland and at the desert collossus. The ram into you then go back below the sand. It isn’t really worth it to fight them unless you have the Biggoron’s Sword, because about the only attacks you have time for are sword attacks. If you don’t have the Biggoron’s sword, the Megaton hammer is the next best thing. As a kid, you may as well forget it, because they retreat under the sand before you can deliver a killing blow.
Lizalfos
These enemies are large humanoid lizards that attack you with a sword while making very annoying noises. They cannot defend against your attacks in any way except by jumping over you. Keep locked on with Z-Targeting and repeatedly attack with your own sword until it is killed. If you wish to do things a little bit safer, you can very easily stun them with a Deku Nut.
M
Mad Scrub
Mad Scrubs are a red colored variation of the common Deku Scrub. They still hide in little plants and spit Deku nuts at you, but they do so at a slightly quicker rate than other scrubs. Deflect its Deku Nut back at it with your shield to send it scampering away, where a single hit from any weapon will then kill it. If you allow it to run back into its hole, it will resume its Deku Nut spitting and you will have to flush it back out again. Slamming the Megaton hammer into the ground will flush it out, even if it is hiding underground.
N
O
Octorok
An Octorok is a foe that pops out of the water and spits a rock at you. Bounce the rock back at it with your shield to kill it. You can also kill it by shooting at it with arrows or your slingshot.
P
Poe
A Poe, or ghost, is supposedly a being of concentrated anger that hates the world. Thus, when you are near one, it will attack you by charging forward and finding a whole bunch of clever ways to smack you with its lantern. If you lock onto it with Z-Targeting, all of it except its lantern will disappear from view for a short time, and you will not be able to harm it until it reappears. Stay back at long range and shoot wit with your bow or slingshot, or get up close and personal and carve it up with your sword. Your choice, as just about any weapon works on them. Once you defeat a poe, you can walk up to the remaining spirit and catch it in a bottle if you wish. They can be found in the graveyard after you pull back a grave, or out and about in different parts of the game.
Poe of the Graveyard
There are two special Poes in the graveyard, the ghosts of the Composer Brothers of Hyrule’s Royal Family. All the rules that apply to Poes, apply to them, except you bring them out by reading their graves at the top of the graveyard. Defeat them and they will tell you about the Sun Song, each giving a different bit of information to you. They cannot be caught in a bottle.
“Pot Throwers”
The term “Pot Thrower” is just something I made up for the unseen force that causes some pots (Mainly in the Spirit Temple) to lift up off the ground and hurl themselves at you. Getting hit barely causes any damage, but if you feel nimble enough, you can normally dodge them then turn back and collect what was inside. If you are in a mood for overkill, you can aproach them with your sword powered up and destroy them before they get close to you. You can also swat them out of the air with your sword. But why bother?
Q
R
Red Bubble
Red Bubbles are skulls with wings that normally leap out of lava and back in. There is no real reason to bother fighting them, but they can by shot if you wish.
ReDead
ReDead are slow moving brown Zombies found in certain dungeons and in Hyrule Market as an Adult. In all places except the Market, you will be frozen for a time if they look at you. It takes awhile to kill them with your sword as a kid, so it is best to just run by. As an adult, using the Biggoron’s Sword, you can kill them in two slices. Even then it is sometimes best to keep back, because if you get too close and are not attacking them, they will leap onto your back and uh.. start using an odd technique to harm you. While locked in their grip, tap buttons to escape before it drains all of your life away.
Red Tektite
A Red Tektite is just a red version of Blue Tektites. They are jumping spiders that you most commonly find along Death Mountain Trail, but can be found in other places as well. A Few good slices with your sword while it isn’t jumping should take care of it. Any weapon will work on it though.
S
Skull Kid
Skullkids are only your enemy as adult Link, and are exclusively found in the Lost Woods. As a kid, they can actually be your friends and you can get a couple heart pieces from them. But when you return to the forest as an adult, they will attack you by spitting from their flutes. They can be kind of tough but will normally just disappear after awhile. But if you defeat one, you will get a giant rupee worth 200 rupees.
Skullwalltula
A Skullwalltula is a skulltula that just hangs out on a climbable wall and does very little. If you climb the wall next to it, the skullwalltula will charge you and normally knock you off. It is best to take them out long range with a slingshot, bow, or hookshot. You can also knock them off the wall and kill them with a good ground pound from the megaton hammer.
Stalchild
Stalchilds are those Skeleton zombies that pop out of the ground at night in Hyrule Field as a kid. Possibly related to the Stalfos, these guys are much easier to beat. You can attach them with anything you wish, but the sword is more than adequete to take care of them. They attack you by swatting with their hands. If you Lure them into water, they will be killed. If you wait out the night until Morning, they will return to the ground. Finally, if you attack one with a horizontal cut, you will chop its head off. The body will still come after you, albeit it will sometimes miss and go wondering off on its own.
Stalfos
A Stalfos is a large skeletal like enemy equipped with a sword and shield. They are found in many different temples both as a child and an adult. Most of the time if you defeat them, a chest appears or a door opens. You defeat them by attacking them while their guard is down. That will be right as they are attacking you. Be careful, these guys like to do leaping overhead attacks at you. An advantage you have is that they can be stunned pretty easily with deku nuts, and they will sometimes accidently leap off cliffs. It is a very good idea to keep them locked on with Z-Targeting, as they have a habbit of circling around you.
T
U
V
W
Wallmaster
Wallmasters are giant hands that drop down from the cieling and grap you if you are still for too long. It will deposit you in a different area, normally the beginning of a level. If you keep running in a room with a Wallmaster in it, the shadow will still follow you and get bigger until it drops down, but it will miss. Attack it with your sword multiple times to kill it.
Wolfos
Wolfos are pretty annoying baddies. They can block the majority of your sword hits with their claws. But when they begin to attack or run, you can catch them off guard with a quick strike. If not, just keep on attacking until your hits get through its defenses and you kill it. They like to run circles around you, so it is best to keep locked on with Z-Targeting.
Arrows
Arrows are the Ammo for the Fairy Bow. When you first get the bow, it comes with 30 arrows. They can then be found all over Hyrule in Pots, plants, and stores.
Biggoron’s Sword
The strongest weapon in the game, this huge sword causes massive damage to your enemies and makes any foe seem like a weakling. Not to be confused with the inferior Giant’s knife that breaks after a few hits, this sword will never break, and as such, is rather hard to get. This is where you have to do something known as the Adult Trading Sequence. It is recommended that you have at least a majority of the Temples defeated to make things easier. Do not Warp during the timed portions of the sequence, as it will cause the item to disapear. You wield the sword like any other, see the Kokiri Sword entry for details. All items in the trading sequence are shown to people as C-Button Items. Here is the Adult Trading Sequence:
- First step, the pocket egg – As an adult, talk to the Cucco lady in Kakariko Village and she will give you the pocket egg. It will hatch into a pocket Cucco the next time the sun rises.
- Pocket Cucco – Assuming you have gotten Epona From Lon Lon Ranch, you will need to go talk to Talon, who is sleeping in a house in Kakariko Village. You wake him with the Pocket Cucco and send him on his way, then return to the Cucco lady. She will tell you the Pocket Cucco is now happy, and will give you the next item in your sequence.
- Cojiro the Blue Cucco – The Cucco Lady gives him to you, and says he only makes noise when happy. He will make noise whenever you enter the Lost Woods, so it is safe to assume the guy you give it to is there. To be exact, it is that odd fellow who used to sit in front of the Tree at Kakariko Village at night when you were a kid. He is where the Lone Skullkid used to play music. It may be night before you can give him Cojiro, but once you do, he will give you an Odd Mushroom.
- The Odd Mushroom and a Time Limit – You will be timed for this, as the mushroom will spoil if you wait to long. You must take it to the other Potion shop in Kakariko Village, the one around the back of the main one. It has an old lady who will mutter some insults and make a potion for you.
- The Potion – Take it back to where that guy was in the Lost Woods. He won’t be there anymore, and one of the Kokiri girls will actually be there. She will say he probably got Lost in the woods and became a Stalfos, and that you most likely will to. It is painfully obvious she has no idea who you are, but that doesn’t really matter anyway. Show her the potion and she will demand you give it to her, since it uses forest materials. Do so.
- The Carpenter’s Saw – Easy now, you can head on over to Gerudo Valley and give the head Carpenter guy outside the tent the saw that the little girl gives you for the potion. He will give you a broken Goron sword that you cannot attack with.
- The Broken Sword and Biggoron’s eye problems – Head off to the top of Death mountain where the Biggoron is (Not inside Goron City.) Show him the broken sword and he will say it is his work, but that he cannot fix it because a recent Volcanic eruption irritated his eyes. He will be making odd annoying noises and rubbing his eyes now. So here comes the next part of your quest, he will give you an eyedrop prescription so he can focus on working on the sword.
- The Prescription and Biggoron’s Childhood friend – Take the Prescription to Zora’s Domain and show it to King Zora, he will mention the tidbit of info that he and the Biggoron were Childhood friends. He will say that he sort of has what you need, but not really. He only has the ingrediants. So he will give you an eyeball frog.
- Race to the Lakeside Laboratory – Take off down the waterfall (Even if it hurts you.) and go up the ladder to yout right. Leap off the waterfall and go down the river as fast as you can to Hyrule field. Once there, call Epona, hop on, and run as fast as you can to the Lakeside Laboratory in Lake Hylia. Go inside and show the frog to the guy there. He will babble on about wanting to eat it, but will eventually make the eyedrops in a nifty little bottle for you. Be prepared to rush out of there very quickly.
- Nifty Eyedrops and a Short Time Limit – Go outside, get on your horse, and run accross Hyrul field as quickly as possible to Kakariko Village. Run through the village and up to Death Mountain trail. From here you have two paths to get back to the Biggoron. You can go to Goron City, in to Darunia’s chamber and through the secret passage to death mountain crater, then hookshot accross the bridge, leap accross the ledge that leads to the exit, and pop out right At the Biggoron. Or you could just go up Death Mountain trial as normal, ignoring any damage you take and scaling the wall after killing the Skulltula’s as fast as possible. Once you get there, if the timer has not run out, give the Biggoron the eyedrops. You may need to Z-Target him first.
- The Claim Check – Once he uses the eyedrops, Biggoron will give you a claim check. Wait about three days or play the Sun Song about 6 times and show him the claim check. If he is not ready yet, wait a little bit longer and then show him again, he will then give you the Biggoron’s Sword! Be sure to save your game immediately.
Bombchu
These small crawling bombs are C-Button weapons that look like little mice. They can crawl up walls and pretty much anywhere before they explode after a short period of time. You first get them by winning the Bombchu Bowling Game in Hyrule Market as a kid. A store will also open that sells a limited amount of them, and the man on the magic carpet in the Haunted Wasteland will also sell them for a ridiculously expensive price.
Bombs
Bombs are round C-Button explosives that are extremely useful. Use them to defeat certain enemies or blow up weakened parts of the ground or walls. You first get them in Dodongo’s Cavern as a kid, in a large chest.
Bomb Flower
A Bomb Flower is an item that you pick up off the ground and then dropd or throw it. As soon as you pick it up, the fuse will be activated. Bomb Flowers are just like bombs except you cannot store them anywhere.
Boomerang
The Boomerang is a C-Button Weapon you use as a kid. You can use it to launch long range attacks that kill or stun certain enemies. It can also be used to bring certain items to you. You get it as a kid inside Lord Jabbu-Jabbu’s belly.
Boss Key
In all the Temples as an adult, you need to find the boss key to unlock a usually large door that (Duh) leads to the boss. They are normally found in a large, highly decorated chest deep within the temple.
Bottles
Bottles are very useful containers used to carry a variety of items. You can get a total of four bottles in the following ways:
- Catch all the Cuccos in Kakariko Village as a kid, put them into the pen by the Cucco lady, then talk to her. For additional info on how to get the Cuccos, you can check out my Cucco Page.
- Win Talon’s Super Cucco Game at Lon Lon Ranch as a kid. It will be filled with Milk when you first get it. Check out the Glitch Page to see how to cheat in the Super Cucco Game.
- Dive in Lake Hylia near the entrance to Zora’s Domain as a kid. You will need the Silver scale to reach it. Inside will be a letter you need to show to King Zora so he can move himself out of the way of the entrance to Zora’s fountain.
- Collect all ten Big poes as an adult and give them to the man at the old guardhouse just inside the castle area leading to the Market. You find Big Poes as an adult while riding Epona. They are hard to deafeat only because they run away quickly. Once you have defeated one, walk up to it off your horse and you will be asked if you wish to keep it. Say yes, and it will be in one of your empty bottles now. Show the bottle to the guy I mentioned before. Once you have collected ten, you will get the fourth bottle. Defeated Big Poes actually smile for some odd reason, so it should be easy to see if you actually got one or not.
You can fill empty bottles with many different things, and they sometimes come with odd items. Set the bottle to a C-Button if you wish to swing it to catch something when it is empty, or do the same to a full bottle to use the item inside. Here is what you can stick in a bottle:
- Big Poe – After Defeating a Big Poe, you can catch it in a bottle. You cannot do anything with it beyond giving it to the Big Poe guy near the Market as an adult in the old Guard tower place.
- Blue Flame – A Blue flame can be bought for a ridiculous price or caught in your bottle in the Ice Caverns or Water Temple Block in Ganon’s castle. The blue flames are caught by swinging an empty bottle at one of the open areas with a big blue flame burning. Use it to melt blocks of red ice.
- Blue Potion – A Blue potion will restore both Hearts and magic power with one drink. As an adult, you can buy it from the old lady in Granny’s Potion Shop.
- Bug – You can catch a bug in underground grottos or sometimes under rocks. You can also buy them in the potion shop. Drop them in soft soil patches as a kid to make a Gold Skulltula pop out. Otherwise they have no use.
- Fairy – You can catch or buy a fairy in a bottle. When you die, it will bring you back to life automatically, but you can also use it to heal you before then by using it with a C-Button.
- Fish – You can catch or buy a fish in a bottle. Drop one in front of Lord Jabbu-Jabbu to make him open his mouth.
- Green Potion – A Green Potion will restore your magic meter to full with one drink. Buy it in the Potion shop.
- Milk – One Bottle will hold two drinks of Milk, and each will restore 5 of your hearts if you drink it. Get Milk from Talon after you have beat his game (You can keep coming back to buy milk.) or you can play Epona’s Song for a Cow and it will give you milk for free if you have an empty bottle.
- Poe – You can catch the spirit of a defeated Poe in a bottle or buy one in the potion shop. If you use the bottle with a Poe in it, Link will actually drink the poor ghost. Sometimes this harms or helps his health. You can also sell them to the Big Poe Fellow as an adult.
- Red Potion – One drink of the Red potion will restore all of your normal hearts to maximum. You can buy it in the Potion shop. The shop is in the Market as a kid or in Kakariko Village as an adult.
Chicken
The C-Button Chicken you use as a kid hatches from the Weird Egg. Use it to wake up Talon on your way to sneaking into the castle. This gets him out of the way so you can push the milk crates to where they need to be.
Compass
You can get a compass for any dungeon. They are normally in large, slightly out of the way, chests. It allows you to see Link’s position on the map for that dungeon. That is, if you have the map for that dungeon.
Cuccos
They aren’t really items, but you can pick them up, throw them, and attack them if you want.
Deku Nuts
These little nuts are C-Button weapons that you can use to stun an enemy for a short period of time. To get them, you can either Defeat a Deku Baba (Flower) or other enemy to sometimes get them, or buy them in stores.
Deku Seeds
Deku Seeds are the ammo for the Fairy Slingshot. You first get 30 of them when you initially get the Slingshot. THey can then be found all over Hyrule in plants, jars, and stores.
Deku Shield
The Deku Shield is made out of wood, and is your primary method as defense as a child. Press R to crouch down and hide behind it, or hold Z and then hold R to be standing with it up. You can run with it this way. It will cause attacks like hurled Deku Nuts to bounce back at an opponent, and is an all around useful item. You first must buy a Deku Shield in the Kokiri Forest as a kid before you can even start any of your missions, but it costs forty Rupees to get. If it comes in contact with fire, you will lose it and have to buy a new one.
Deku Sticks
Long Deku Sticks are C-Button Items that you swing like a sword. They cause more damage than a sword, but break easily. You can get them by defeating A Deku Baba (Flower) while it is stunned or otherwise has its stalk sticking straight up, or by buying them at a store.
Din’s Fire
Din’s Fire is a firey magic attack that is very effective for lighting multiple torches or catching a group of enemies off guard. You get this C-Button Spell from the Great Fairy near the inner castle as a kid. A stone is blocking the way to the entrance so you must bomb it to get in.
Dungeon Map
A Dungeon map can be found in any dungeon or temple in the game. It allows you to view a map in the bottom righth and corner of the screen by pressing the L Button. It also allows you to view the temple in-depth on one of the start screens.
Fairy Bow
This C-Button weapon is a long range weapon you use as an adult. It can be used while on or off your horse, and is sometimes also needed to activate some switches. You get the bow and arrows in a chest in the Forest Temple after defeating two Stalfos.
Fairy Ocarina
The first musical instrument of the game, you use it to play certain songs that are needed to beat certain parts of the game or help you on your quest. Equip it to a C-Button and play by using A and the other C-Buttons. You get it once you beat the Grat Deku Tree and leave the forest for the first time. In a short scene, Saria will stop and give it to you.
Fairy Slingshot
This is a C-Button weapon you use as a kid as a way for making long range attacks on enemies as well as activate certain switches. You find the Fairy Slingshot in a chest in The Great Deku Tree.
Farore’s Wind
Another Magic spell, this one allows you to Warp inside Dungeons that have a map. Using it with a C-Button for the first time, you create a warp-point in the beginning of whatever room you are in. If you use it again, you can choose to dispel that warp-point or return to it. You get this spell from the Great Fairy at the back of Zora’s Fountain as a child or adult. You must Bomb the entrance with the rocks along the wall to get in.
Fire Arrows
To get the fire arrows you must first have the ability to use magic along with having the regular arrows. Fire Arrows are useful for setting torches on fire along with the novelty of burning up your enemies. You can get the fire arrows at Lake Hylia once you have defeated the Water Temple. You will be on the island in the middle of the lake after Sheik talks to you, and it will conveniently be morning. Walk over to the area where you can stand and read. It will hint towards shooting the sun with your arrows. While it is still morning, and the sun is low, do so. The fire arrows will fall onto the small island that you are facing. Just go get them from there.
Fishing Rod
You use it in the fishing pond, duh. Cast with B, then use the control stick and B to wiggle the lure around. Holding down A will reel it in, and also holding down R while reeling will make it pull back in faster.
Gerudo Membership Card
This “item” is given to you by the Second in Command Geruso once you free all the carpenters. It allows you to come and go freely in the Gerudo fortress without being thrown in jail.
Giant’s Knife
If there was ever an adult version of the breakable deku stick, this is it. It is a very expensive version, at that. Each time you break it the Big Goron inside of Goron City can repair it for you for a mere two hundred Rupees. It is best to get the Biggoron’s Sword by doing the adult trading sequence. You get this sword from the Big-Goron sticking his head into Goron City as an adult. Wield it like any other sword. When it breaks, you can still use the hilt and attack enemies with it, but it will not be all that effective.
Goron Tunic
This Tunic allows you to resist fire and heat, so you won’t get all burned up. You get it originally from the little Goron as an adult who was named after you. Stop his rolling by detonating a bomb near him and then talking to him. He will tell you the plight of the Gorons and give you the Tunic. If you lose it, you can buy another in the store. Isn’t it just great that the Gorons make and sell human clothing?
Heart Containers
You get these after defeating a boss. They increase your life hearts by one each. There are about 8 of them in the game, as there are eight Dungeon Bosses, not counting Ganondork.. err Ganondorf.
Heart Pieces
Heart pieces are gained by completing certain tasks or reaching certain areas. Four of them increase your life energy by one heart. There are 36 total, and one more you can get that is listed in my Glitch Page. Details of the rest of them can be found in my Heart Piece Page.
Hookshot
This is a C-Button item that launches a chain with a hook from the mount and can be used to latch onto certain surfaces and pull you to them. It can also pull certain objects to you like Skulltula tokens. The Hookshot can be used like a weapon, and will stun some enemies while killing others. You get the hookshot as an adult after racing Dampe the Gravedigger’s ghost. His grave is the first one on the far left of the graveyard from the entrance. It has flowers in front of it. Pull it back to reveal a hole that leads you to his course.
Hover Boots
Float on air or over water for an instant while wearing these boots with little wings on them. You get them in the Shadow Temple. I can make a million cracks about how they make you light-footed, or I can go off and compare the boots to old Nike commercials and slogans, but I don’t feel like it right now.
Hylian Shield
The Hylian shield is the one shield that you can use as a kid and an adult. As a kid, pressing R will cause him to duck down underneath it, as he is too small to hold it up. As an adult, Link will be able to crouch down behind it or run with it up by holding Z, running forward, and holding R. You can get the Hylian shield from the Bazaar in the market, or there is one in a chest under one of the graves in Kakariko village.
Ice Arrows
The Ice arrows are another C-Button add-on to your arrows. You can get them by successfully beating Gerudo Training ground as an adult after you have beat Gerudo fortress. You pay the guard by the fence at the base of the building to open the gate and go inside. There is no real need or use for the ice arrows, beyond just watching your enemies freeze when you hit them with it. A hint for defeating the fortress is to not waste keys taking the right hand path in the maze, only go the left path.
Iron Boots
The iron boots are the hottest craze all throughout Hyrule.. Well, not really. You equip this set of foot wear and you will bearely be able to move at a turtle’s pace above water. They are very useful when you need to sink down to the bottom of a lake or pond, or when you need to keep your feet firmly planted in one place. The Iron boots are in a chest that appears in the final room of the Ice Cavern, after you defeat a snow wolf.
Keys
Keys are mostly used in temples, but they can also be used in the treasure chest game and to unlock the doors to the prisoners’ cells in Gerudo Valley. They also permenantly unlock any other doors with chain locks on them. At Gerudo Valley, you get them by defeating the Gerudos that have two swords. The guards drop down once you talk to the carpenters, then defeat them and they will drop a key. In temples, they are found mostly in chests that you have to do some sort of task to reach or make appear.
Kokiri Boots
Link’s regular old shoes. Kind of amazing how they still fit him after seven years in the Chamber of Sages.
Kokiri Sword
The Kokiri Sword is your main weapon as a kid. Use it with B for a horizontal cut. Run forward while holding Z and then press B to lunge. Swing and Hold down B for a Spin attack. You can power up your spin attack once you get magic. Running forward while pressing Z and then pressing A while your sword is out will make him doe an overhead lunging attack. This attack can also be done by pressing B when you leap off a ledge. Holding R while behind your Kokiri Sword and pressing B will cause him to do some sort of odd stabbing attack from begind his shield. You get the Kokiri Sword as a kid in the Kakiri forest at the top of the hill with fences. Climb through the hole and walk along thw wannabe maze to get to the chest. The sword is inside. You are told you can borrow it for a little while, even though you keep it through the entire game and actually upgrade it into a completely different weapon in Majora’s mask.
Kokiri Tunic
Link’s regular green clothes with matching green hat. Once again it is amazing how that thing still fits him after 7 years of growth.
Lense of Truth
The Lense of Truth is an item that allows you to see past deception. Set it to a C-Button and activate it. You will then be able to see false panels, holes in floors, along with invisible enemies and platforms. It consumes magic at a pretty slow rate, but while it is on, you cannot use any other magical items, and your powered spin attack will just become a regular spin attack. You get the Lense of Truth in a very confusing level under the well as a kid once you have used the Song of Storms inside the Windmill to drain it.
Light Arrows
The ability to shoot Light Arrows is the final C-Button add-on option you can get for the arrows. You get them from Zelda once you have defeated all the temples as an adult and return to the Temple of Time. During the scene she will give them to you before being captured. You need them to defeat all the small temple blocks inside Ganon’s Castle, as well as to defeat Ganondorf himself.
Longshot
The Longshot is an upgrade for the hookshot above. The chain is much longer so you can use it at greater distances. Otherwise there is little difference between the two. You recieve the Longshot inside the Water Temple as an Adult.
Magic Beans
Magic beans are C-Button items that you plant in the soft patches of soil scattered throughout Hyrule as a kid. Go back to where you planted them as an adult and small floating platforms will be in their place. These plaforms help you reach certain areas you would normally not be able to go. You Get Magic beans from the bean eating fellow in Zora’s River. His prices start off cheap but soon become ridiculously expensive until you have bought all that you need.
Masks
Masks are C-Button items you can wear over your face to invoke odd responses when talking to people. You progessively get newer and newer masks as you go through the child trading sequence. I will tell you it here once instead of devoting a different page to it.
- Keaton Mask – You can borrow the Keaton Mask right off the bat once the Happy Mask Shop opens in the market. this will be right after you show the guard in Kakariko Village the letter you get from Princess Zelda. It is pretty obvious who wants the mask, but I will tell you anyway. That same guard by the entrance to Death Mountain in Kakariko Village. Wear the Mask and talk to him and he will offer to buy it from you. Say yes and move on. If you say no, he will re-close the gate until you do talk to him again and say yes.
- Skull Mask – You get this mask next from the Shop after you have repaid the Shop Owner. Failing to do so makes him get all mad and threaten you until you come back with his money. The Skull mask is traded to the lone Skull Kid in the lost woods. You have to have played Saria’s Song to him first on the little platform before you can trade the mask, I believe. It doesn’t matter if you have to now, he will give you a heart piece for it.
- Spooky Mask – Next up is the Spooky Mask. To sell this one, you have to go to the graveyard in Kakariko Village during the day. Wear it and talk to the little kid there. He will buy it from you full price.
- Bunny Hood – The final mask to trade in this sequence is the Bunny Hood. You cannot do it right away, as you have to have at least a couple of the spiritual stones, if not all, before the guy you trade it to appears. He is the Running man in Hyrule Field who you may notice trudging along at a slow pace around the outside of Lon Lon Ranch. He is pretty slow now, but you have to wait until night when he sits down and takes a break to talk to him. Be sure to be wearing the Bunny Hood when you talk to him. Also be sure to have an empty wallet, because he pays you an extraordinary amount of Rupees for it. Once you trade it to him he will become a very very fast runner, and will actually hurt you if you stand in his path. Go back and repay the Mask Shop owner. You will be able to borrow some other freebie masks that really have no point. They are the following:
- Gerudo Mask – Look like a girl?! Well, if you want to.. Talking to random people will get you some odd reactions, and talking to the Gerudo outside the gate leading to Gerudo fortress will get you insulted.
- Goron Mask – Have the big head of a Goron. Wear this mask around and get some mized replies, talk to a Goron to get an odd reaction as well. Talking to Darunia with this mask on just makes him mad.
- Mask of Truth – The only one of the Masks with a real use, you can talk to Gossip Stones with it on. You can also talk to random people to get more mixed replies.
- Zora Mask – Wear this Mask around to get some different replies from people when you talk to them. Talk to a Zora to get insulted. Talk to Princess Ruto and she says something really really odd.
Master Sword
This is your main weapon as an adult that follows all the same controls as the Kokiri Sword. You need it to Defeat Ganon in the end of the game, even through there is a stronger sword available. Picking it up and replacing it in the platform in the Temple of Time allows you to move back and forth through time.
Megaton Hammer
This massively heavy C-Button weapon is known as “The Legendary Hammer” by the Gorons. You use it to smash enemies to pieces and to activate rusted switches. You get it inside a chest in the Fire Temple.
Mirror Shield
The Mirror shield is a highly polished shield for use by adult Link. You can use it to reflect light or re-angle light to a new direction. You need it to get through the Spirit Temple as well as to defeat the twin-witch boss of that level. So it is pretty obvious that you get the shield at the Spirit Temple as an adult. It is in a Chest that srops down to the left hand of the desert Collosuss (From its point of view.)
Nayru’s Love
Nayru’s Love is a C-Button Magic Spell that makes you look kinda like you are inside a giant blue Rupee. No matter, for as long as this spell is active you will not be harmed by any attacks, even if they do still knock you over. You get Nayru’s Love from the Great Fairy at the Desert Colossus. The entrance is another section of wall that you must bomb to get inside. It is along the right side of the rock wall from the entrance to this area from the Haunted Wasteland.
Ocarina of Time
This musical instrument replaces your Fairy Ocarina. You play it just like the last one, except it is blue and sounds a little bit different. You get this as a kid once you have all three spiritual stones and go to the castle. After a short scene in which Zelda throws the Ocarina into the river, you can dive in and get it. Another scene will happen that teaches you the song of time.
Pots and plants
You can pick them up and throw them, or slice them to pieces. There are normally useful items inside, and that is why I included them.
Stone of Agony
This “item” that looks suspiciously like an N64 rumble pack, is given to you by a kid in the House of Skulltula after killing 20 Gold Skulltulas. All it does is make your rumble pack vibrate if you are near a clue sometimes.
Weird Egg
The Weird Egg is given to you by Malon if you talk to her a couple times before sneaking into the castle as a kid. It hatches into a chicken after the next time the Sun rises.
Zelda’s Letter
This C-Button item is given to you by Zelda when you first talk to her after sneaking in to the castle. Give it to the guard at Kakariko Village who controls the gate to Death Mountain trial by showing it to him with C.
Zora Tunic
The Zora Tunic allows you to breath underwater while wearing it. As an adult, if you unfreeze King Zora with a blue flame, he will give you one. If you also unfreeze the shop as an adult, you may buy one there as well.

This mask is for sale on the night of the final day if you saved the Bomb Shop Lady from being mugged by Sakon at midnight of the first day in North Clock Town. It sells for 500 rupees. I hope you have your wallet upgrade! | When you wear it, the All-Night Mask helps you stay up through Anju’s grandmother’s long stories, allowing you to answer her questions when she is finished. If you answer them the way she would like you to, then she’ll give you a piece of heart for each story she tells, two in all. |
|
Blast mask
|
The old lady from the Bomb shop will give this mask as a reward for stopping the theif from taking her Bigger Bomb Bag as she cuts through North Clock Town. So as a reward, she gives you something that blows off your face…. | While wearing this mask, hit B to create an explosion right in Link’s face. You’ll take damage UNLESS you hold up your shield while using it… The physics of that astounds me… Anyway, the mask takes some time to recharge ater you use it. |
|
Bremen mask
|
All you have to do is listen to Guru-Guru’s story about living with the animals. His characteristic angry face comes into play from Ocarina of Time. Hang out with him in the evenings of the first or second days in the Laundry Pool. For some reason, he’ll give you the mask he stole. | The little chicks in the back area of Romani Ranch will follow you around while you march with B while wearing this crazy mask. That’s all it’s good for. Oh, and you get to see Link march. ^_^ |
|
Bunny hood
|
If you gather all the little chicks in the back area of Romani Ranch, the chick-keeper (sounds rather erotic, eh?) will give you this sweet mask of speed! How nice! | Link on sugar! The hood makes Link run faster than normal and jump over ledges at the same distance that rolling off the ledge before the jump will take you. It also increases Link’s cuteness quotient by 50%! ^_^ |
|
Captain’s hat
|
Wake up the sleeping, giant Stalchild by Dampe’s house in the Ikana graveyard with the Sonata of Awakening and chase him around the spiralling path. To catch up to him, you will need the Bunny Hood and the Gilded Sword. Once you catch up to him, he’ll attack. Defeat him and he will honour you with a hat. | This hat lets you talk to Stalchildren in the Ikana graveyard. It will also protect you from redeads and gibdos who will dance when you wear it in front of them. They all want to party with you! One last thing it can do (though very minor) is if you wear it as you’re defeating Igos du Ikana, he’ll comment that you’re a smaller version of the stalchild who gave it to you. |
|
Circus Leader’s mask
|
Time for Link to show how musically diverse he is! Play the notes that Toto asks you to in the Milk Bar after 10pm on the first and second nights as all four forms of Link and you’ll warm up the normally frigid heart of Gorman. He’s so touched by your playing that he gives you his face… in the form of a mask. | The Circus Leader’s mask isn’t very useful, but is nice to have. You’ll make the Gorman brothers on Milk Road very sad when you wear it around them (the looks on their faces are worth seeing!) Also while riding in the milk cart with Cremia at 6pm on the second day (if you saved Romani from the aliens the night before…) if you wear the mask, the bandits won’t smash your milk, making it a much more enjoyable trip to the Milk Bar. ^_^ |
|
Couple’s mask
|
This is by far the mask that needs the most effort to receive (next to the Fierce Deity mask, I suppose.) This mask requires you to complete the Anju/Kafei sidequest which gets a little tedious at times. The whole story is spread out over the three days so you may need to set aside a whole three day cycle for just this quest. By helping Kafei get back his Sun’s mask and convincing Anju to stay behind in the town, if you wait in Anju’s room as Kafei arrives, you will receive this mask. For a more in-depth explanation of what to do, see Bombers’ Notebook. | You only need this mask for one thing and that is to wear it for Mayor Dotour, saving him from the horrendous meeting between Mutoh and Viscen. He’ll give you a piece of heart as a sign of gratitude. |
|
Deku mask
|
Once you return to the dawn of the first day for the first time, head right into the clock tower and talk to the mask salesman. He’ll hook you up with the Song of Healing and remove the spell the skull kid put on you, turning it into the Deku mask. |
Wear it and become a deku scrub. YAY!
|
|
Don Gero’s mask
|
The braziers in the throne room of the Goron shrine will light up once you have coaxed the Elder’s son to sleep. Light a deku stick conveniently found in jars next to the wall in the throne room and light the braziers outside the throne room. There are a few by the railing close to the chandelier, several down the ramp leading to the lower level and three more on the bottom floor of the shrine. Lighting all the braziers will get that chandelier moving! Do your goron roll over the ramp leading up to the chandelier and crash through one of the decorations on the chandelier. One of them contains a piece of rock sirloin! Pick it up and carry it all the way to the Mountain Village and throw it up to the goron who seems to be stuck on the ledge. He is wearing Don Gero’s mask and will gladly give it to you for saving his life! What a nice guy. | Talk to the four frogs scattered around Termina while wearing this mask, defeat Goht in Snowhead and finally, when the frogs can sit on their lilypads in the Mountain Village, they’ll sing you a song and give you a piece of heart for listening. The frogs reside in the Laundry Pool in Clock Town, the swamp by the big octorok blocking the way to the Deku palace, in the Boss Key room of Woodfall Temple and finally in the Boss Key room of Great Bay Temple. To get the two in the Boss Key rooms, defeat the gekko and it will transform into the little frog. |
|
Fierce Deity mask
|
It is the ultimate mask and is given to you as a reward for collecting all 20 non-transforming masks and sharing them with the kids who frolic around the tree in the moon. NOT THE KID WITH MAJORA’S MASK ON!! Each kid will invite you to play a game of hide-and-seek with them (what is with this game and hide-and-seek…?) If you win the game with all four kids, talk to the kid with Majora’s mask and he will give you the Fierce Deity mask, then lure you into the final battle. | Though powerful, the Fierce Deity mask has limited use. It can only be worn during Boss battles. >_< But what a mask it is. It can make very quite work of any boss! All you need to do is Z-target the sucker and press B to send aerial saws at it!! These saws do a ridiculous amount of damage (though, each saw takes magic power to send out.) Sweet! |
|
Garo’s mask
|
Show those Gorman brothers who’s the boss! It’s Tony Danza! (Bad joke >_<) Once you have saved Epona from the evil grips of Romani Ranch, trot her on over to the Gorman racetrack and challenge the brothers to a duel! If you win, Garo’s mask will be your spoils of victory! Tips on how to win are in the minigames section. | The cliffkeeper in Ikana will let you pass once you collect this mask and wear it in front of him. As you walk along certain parts of Ikana, if Tatl informs you she senses bloodlust of some sorts, wear this mask and a garo will challenge you. Defeat him (her?) and they will give you some advice, then detonate themselves. Also the redeads and gibdos will want to party with you while you wear this one! |
|
Giant’s mask
|
You get this mask added to your inventory when you defeat eyegore in Stone Tower temple. If you are stuck on how to get to the eyegore or how to defeat him, check out the Stone Tower temple walkthrough. | You only have to whip this mask out once in the game and that is to defeat Twinmold in Stone Tower temple. “Watch your magic meter,” says the Great Fairy and she is right with this mask. It sucks your magic power up like a vacuum on caffiene! I would suggest a swig of Chateau Romani before entering this battle. |
|
Gibdo mask
|
There is something wrong with the music house in Ikana Canyon. Once you have cured Sharp, one of the composer brothers of his evil, the musicbox house will start playing its rocking song! GUITAR!! YEOW!!!! *ahem* Anyway, once Pamela (the little girl who lives in the house) steps out for a smoke or something (o_O) head into the house and go downstairs. Open the dresser in the basement and play the Song of Healing for the poor, bandaged man. You’ll lift his curse and gain a mask for it! | It is a mask needed for one of the most annoying parts in the game, the bottom of the well in Ikana. It allows you to approach the gibdos guarding each door and talk to them. This is the part of the game I dread. >_< |
|
Goron mask
|
Poor Darmani. He fell down Snowhead and died. Then some Hylian punk comes along and plays him the Song of Healing on his ocarina, turning you into a mask that he used repeatedly, without a word of thanks. Crappy deal. | This mask makes your dream come true. Wear this mask and you can become something Zelda fans since now could have only dreamed about. A big, fat rock guy! YYYYEESSSSS! |
|
Great Fairy mask
|
The Great Fairy of Magic has a gift for you once you restore her broken body to its original “magnificience.” She gives you the Great Fairy mask and disappears as quickly as she came. | The stray fairies in the four temples will fall in love with you and fly over to you as soon as you put this mask on…though the idea of the Great Fairy’s face on Link’s body… it scares me…. Also, if there is a fairy in the room you are in, the hair will sparkle up a storm. |
|
Kafei’s mask
|
Walk into the Mayor’s house after 10am (since any earlier is impossible.) Stupid slow Gorman and his door blocking ways. Anyway, go into the room to the right of the receptionists desk and talk to Madame Aroma. She’ll mistake you for a professional investigator she hired to find her son and give you Kafei’s mask. | While wearing the mask of the seemingly star-crossed lover, some people will tell you what they know about the missing lad when you wear this mask around them. It is involved with getting the second most annoying mask in the game. >_< |
|
Kamaro’s mask
|
Every night after midnight until morning, dear, devoted Kamaro the ghost will dance his dance outside North Clock Town (a little left of the North entrance to Termina field.) You find him on a giant rock platform. All you have to do is jump to his platform and heal his tortured soul with the Song of Healing. | Dance Link’s sexy dance of seduction while wearing the mask in front of the Rosa sisters and they’ll give you a piece of heart and a place in their hearts. ^_^ |
|
Keaton mask
|
By doing the Anju/Kafei sidequest (see Bomber’s Notebook) you can pick up this mask when you go to the Laundry pool back entrance to the Curiousity Shop at 1pm until 10pm on the final day. If you have completed the Anju/Kafei sidequest up until this point, the man from the Curiousity shop will give you a few things, including the Keaton mask. | Wear it before you cut the dancing grass in either North Clock Town, on Milk Road or the Mountain Village when spring has sprung and when Keaton pops up, answer the questions he poses correctly. He’ll give you a piece of heart if you answer all of them correctly. For a list of the questions and their answers, see Keaton’s Quiz. |
|
Mask of Scents
|
After freeing the Deku princess from her trunk prison, putting her in a new, glass prison and freeing her from her new prison in front of her father, the butler will be waiting for you in the maze by the Deku Palace. Just leave the King’s chamber once the princess has been saved, go past where the guards used to be and head to the right to the chamber across the lilypads. Run through the maze, make it to the end and the butler will give you this AWESOME mask! (See Mini Games for a thorough runthrough of the maze!) | Smell stuff in the Woods of Mystery, in the bathroom and in the last bedroom in the Stove Pot Inn and bottle that smell for Kotake’s potions … that’s all it does… -__- ((Thank you, Shadow Cat for telling me about the smell in the bedrooom… I don’t know what you were doing smelling Gorman’’s underwear… but whatever! My shrine is more complete with your underwear-smelling help!)) |
|
Mask of Truth
|
This mask sounds easy to get, but it’s kind of tedious. Destroy all the gold skulltulas in the Swamp’s Skulltula house and the man inside the foyer of the house (who was kind of… ugly before) will be cured of his curse and gives you the Mask of Truth. | Read the minds of animals when you pick them up while wearing this mask or talk to the Gossip stones for some sound, financial advice. |
|
Postman’s hat
|
You have to do part of the Anju/Kafei sidequest to get this hat. Once you receive the priority mail from the man behind the Curiousity Shop on the final day, give it to the mailman (who is cowaring in his house by now) and wait for him to leave the Milk Bar after he’s delivered the mail. He’ll quit his job, give Link his hat and dance his liberating dance of joblessness! | You now have the authority to look inside the postboxes. The first time you look inside, you get a piece of heart. Any other time, you get one rupee. |
|
Romani mask
|
After saving lil’ Romani from the threatening alien invasion on the first night, you have to help Cremia from the threatening horsemen invasion on the second night! If you are able to get to Termina Field with some milk intact for the Milk Bar by warding the Gorman brothers off with your arrows, Cremia will think you are an adult and give you the Romani mask. | This mask gets you inside the Milk Bar after 10pm… Yup… |
|
Stone mask
|
Save poor Shiro, the invisible soldier from his horrid doom of invisibility. Spot him in the beginning of Ikana Canyon after jumping the three fences with Epona in the circle of stones near the last fence. Give him what he wants, a red or blue potion and he’ll give you the reason he was invisible, the Stone mask. | Most enemies can’t see you when you wear this mask. Very handy when you’re in trouble or need a few seconds of not getting attacked. A nice mask to have, indeed. |
|
Zora mask
|
In Great Bay, swim out to the flock of seagulls to the left of the entrance to the area. You find Mikau floating around. Drag his keister to shore and heal his soul with the Song of Healing. His body will disintegrate and yield the Zora mask. | Turn into the karate fish man thing! w00t! |
ODOLWA, the Masked Jungle Warrior!

This guy can be hard for novices, but once you know his tells, he’s a kitty cat (in fighting abilities, anyway.) Fight this guy as Human Link even though there is a deku flower in the middle of the room. His first attack is normally just a sword thrust in your direction. Pretty easy to dodge. Try and slash up his ankles if you’re close enough since it takes him a while to recover after that attack. If you are too slow and he recovers before you attack him, he’ll slash you good (but it doesn’t damage for much…)
His other physical attack is much more fancy, but even easier to dodge. He croutches and spins around in a circle towards you. All you have to put up your sheild and he’ll just circle around you until he runs out of steam. Again, chop at his ankles. He can jump out of the way of your swings, but whatever. If you hit him, good for you, bad for him.
He can use one of two summoning attacks. One is where he summons small spider-looking things and another one is where he summons moths. Both these kinds of creatures adore fire so pull up one of the bomb flowers that line the perimeter of the room and put it down or if you already have a bomb bag, pull out your own bomb. The insects will flock towards the fuse and leave you alone! The blast will take them out. Also, if you are able to lure Odolwa close to the bomb, it will damage him A LOT and stun him, so you can take a few free swings!
One last thing this guy can do is make chunks of the ceiling fall to the floor so watch out for the rocks’ silhouettes. Word of the wise, don’t stand where there is a silhouette of a boulder. ^_^ After a dozen hits or so, he is finished.
GOHT, the Masked Mechanical Monster!

Sounds like this boss is just as misunderstood as the creature from Frankenstein from the name they gave it, but it’s not. He just runs around the room which is a circular track and hits you with various attacks. There are two ways to kill him. You can stay in the little alcove you start in and shoot him with fire arrows everytime he comes around (I’m unsure if this actually works, though…) but you’d need a lot of arrows to do this. This isn’t any fun, though!! The actual way you should attack him would be to become goron Link, roll around enough to sprout your spikes and chase that goat down! Bash him to bits! Sometimes, since the terrain is very bumpy, it becomes hard to build up enough speed to reveal your spikes of doom, but keep rolling. You’ll find a good flat spot eventually. There are an infinite number of magic jars available so I would suggest everytime you see one, run into it to replenish your magic reserves if you can. Don’t want to run out during a cructial moment. Also, if you can, try to hit him in the butt while you’re airbourne. This will knock him down and you can take a few free swings at him.
Now for his attacks. If you fall behing him a lot while chasing him, he will stop and face you as you come up behind him. You have to swerve from side to side to avoid the lightning attack he launches at you. As long as you swerve enough, he won’t hit you. Normally, he shoots out three lightning bolts (less if he hits you with it) and then continues running.
Everytime you hit him, he sends out a homing lightning ball which again you must swerve to avoid. When you are chasing him, don’t hang out directly behind him. He tends to kick up chunks of the ground which if they hit you, will cause you to lose all momentum and you’ll have to roll and power up again. After you hit him about five times, parts of the ceiling fall. You can’t pretict when they will come down and again, they screw up your momentum. Another five hits and he’ll start dropping bombs which explode if you touch them with those spikes of yours. One last thing he can do would be if you are standing still and let him come around the whole track to where you are standing, he’ll charge at you and toss you up in the air for some damage, but as long as you keep following him, that should never happen! ^_^
You can tell how damaged his is from the amount of smoke and electric discharge coming out of his body. After about twenty hits with your buff, goron body, he’ll be defeated and run into a wall. Seems all those hits from your buff body damaged his brain, too.
GYORG, the Gargantuan Masked Fish!

This guy is very annoying and may cause you to use a fairy. To attack it, you must hit his body with something since his mask kind of defends him. Either stand on the platform and use arrows (not charged-up with fire or ice) OR jump into the water and attack using the electric field around the gills to stun him. If you have elected to go into the water, you may also try to sink to the bottom in a corner and when he comes at you, Z-target him and use your flying fins to stun him. Either way, you have to be in the water to fish-fu him when he’s stunned. After you’ve administered some beatdown, get back onto the platform or at least very far away from Gyorg. I’ll tell you why.
His one big attack is to eat you. He can only do it while you are in the water, though. So if you are good at jumping on ledges with zora Link, you will do fine! Another attack (which he only uses while you are on the platform) is to ram the platform to try and knock you into the water. If you are no where near the edge, you’ll be fine. I believe it delivers no damage (though it sounds like you are getting hit.) He will also line up and swim at the platform, but rather than ram it, he will fly over it (like in the cutscene) and physically try to bring you into the water if you are close to the edge. I have never been hit by it, but it probably does damage and knocks you into the water. I really don’t know.
After a few hits, he’ll release some small fish out of his mouth to annoy you. Just keep doing what you’re doing and if the fish really get in the way, electrocute them. A few more hits should put him away.
TWINMOLD, the Giant Masked Insect!

A return appearance of Twinmold, the worms that never go away from game to game, console to console. Not much of a strategy to killing them… you must use the Giant’s mask to become big enough to compete with them, but the mask uses magic power to wear so make sure you have a full magic meter OR drink some Chateau Romani milk which gives you infinite magic for the whole three day cycle! Now that you are large and in charge, smack the hell out of the face and/or tail of the worms. After a few smacks, each worm’s body will disintegrate and the face will fall in the sand.
These worms have no attack really. They fly around in the air for a bit then dive into the sand for safety, only to pop up and fly around again. They damage you when they touch you while flying around. That’s it. They have one use, though. If you run out of magic, there are many chunks of rock sitting around the desert (but don’t stray too far away from the center… you will get lost and have to begin the boss battle all over again….) If you are close to a rock and out of magic, there is a chance that the worms will run into the rocks and destroy them, yielding magic.
So the strategy… smack, smack, smack, done.
Majora’s Mask!

Pretty wussy for a final boss… or is he (she?)? Yes, he/she is. (No gender assumption in that!) If you are using the Fierce Deity’s mask, then shame on you. Just z-target and press B until it is defeated. If you’re not a CHEATER, then the vunerable part of Majora’s mask is the back, where all the tenticles are hanging out. First, wait until you have a clear shot of the back and hit it with an arrow (best to do this when it is spinning around the room since it won’t be able to turn and block the arrow.) You can also use zora Link’s flying fins if you run out of arrows. Once you peg it, it will fall to the ground and you get a few free smacks at it with your sword. After a few hits, Majora’s mask summons its mask friends. Arrow or zora fin them to get them out of the way and concentrate on Majora’s mask again. It will have a new ability, a fiery laser so reflect it back with your shield. To hit Majora’s mask, it is better to aim the shield while NOT z-targeted.
Majora’s mask attacks are easy to avoid. When it is floating in the air, spinning around like a frisbee of death, arrow it or sidejump to saftey. When it summons the boss masks, kill them. It’ll eventually shoot lasers at you which are reflectable by your mirror shield. Keep using this strategy and it will die… or will it?
Majora’s Incarnation!

A final boss with a second, presumably more powerful form? How original… But alas, this one is less powerful than the original mask. Though it now has a body, its body is weak. Weak like a baby! A baby with ridiculous running speed and the ability to shoot shining, hurty lights. If you are still using the Fierce Deity’s mask, z-target and press B. Really, though… is there any other strategy if you are using that mask… The REAL strategy to fighting this guy is simple, hit it with arrows, fins or your sword to trip him up and smack him when it’s down. It’ll stand up, hold its head and stay still for a bit for some reason, so sword its legs again to make him fall on his face. Lather, rinse, repeat if desired and you should desire since it will make you win! ^_^ You can also do what Tatl suggests and throw your buff, spiky goron body at it, but it’s too small a room to do that, I think.
Its attacks are terrible… It’ll run around the room and run over you… Sometimes, it stops and shoots white lights at you which you can sidejump away from. That is all… Smack it for being weak and stupid and it will die… or will it?
Majora’s Wrath!

Sooooo… Majora’s Incarnation was hooked up to a bicycle pump and now it has WRATH!!!! RRRAAAWWWRRR! This is the EASIEST of the three forms! >_< For the Fierce Deity’s mask users, z-target and press B (cheaters ;_; …you make baby Mario cry.) For those manly men and (insert feminine equivalent to manly here) women, put up your shield, z-target if you want and walk on over to Majora’s Wrath. Slash, slash, stab and stab.
Majora’s Wrath has very fancy whip attacks. These can easily be blocked with your shield. After the first few hits, Majora’s Wrath becomes more evasive, so you will have to be quick when approaching. It may also kick you or use a rapid whipping attack. After a few more hits (say six or so) it will unleach a new attack. Two tentacles… what can tentacles do…? What do tentacles always do…? They grab you and throw you. It is hard to predict this attack and blocking with your shield does nothing so take it like the Hero of Time! The last attack it does is not really an attack… More like summons giant Beyblades (I’m not kidding, sadly…) and directs them with its tentacles. After a few more smacks with your sword and it will die… or will it? …Yes, yes it will. Finally. <!–
